Welcome to the
Little River Commons
Land Trust and Community House. .........................................................
The Little River Commons is a fully volunteer and gift economy-run community house dedicated to land justice and restoring the commons.
It is located on a 66 acre Land Trust held by the land justice project Land in Common
WE DID IT!!!
The Little River Commons exists and will be held by Land In Common. The land, river and watershed will be protected in perpetuity!
Thank you to the hundreds of people who contributed to raise the needed funds. We received contributions from all over the continent. We have taken a step toward land justice together! Let us continue walking up the mountain of collective liberation.
The legal transfer to form the Trust in Common is still in process. We will soon start building up volunteer teams to help with the establishment of mutual aid work groups, the craft space, trail creation, upkeep of the community house, processes for supporting the housing-insecure, etc.Though the protection and collective use of the land is secure, The Little River Coalition will still need to pay back the 125,000 non-interest long-term loan in order to ongoingly secure the infrastructure for collective use, so keep spreading the word for those wanting to support this particular project on the land.

Commons and Reparations
It is a commons accessible outside of capitalism that functions in the gift economy.
The land is now owned by Land in Common, which will make a management plan that prioritizes land access to BIPOC- led groups and communities, supports Wabanaki lifeways, and creates community access to the Little River, outdoor event space, and more.
Any donations given to the community house for training use or other activities, minimally 20% will be moved to Wabanaki and BIPOC-led organizations.
The coalition ensures that initiatives on the land are fundamentally aimed toward land justice - generating more abundance through the creation of commons and returning that abundance to the land and BIPOC communities.
Stewardship of the 66 acres with Regenerative Forestry, Ecological Restoration, and Permaculture practices to ensure the land heals and all species thrive.
Protect a large section of the Little River watershed which is threatened by the proposed Nordic industrial and multinational fish factory.
Organizational base and training site for applying the Internal Family Systems therapeutic framework to social change.
Hosting a two year training program for young adults, preparing them to be community leaders in an unpredictable world (4 months per year on site).
A community craft/maker space including a bike shop, pottery wheel, kiln, looms, woodworking, sewing machines, printing press, spinning wheels, and more.
Shared use of the house for community initiatives such as youth programs, nature education, retreats, healing spaces, supporting the housing insecure, and more.
Community and
Regeneration
What can you imagine?...
There is a live-in volunteer community called the Little River Collective. They are dedicated to forwarding this work of Collective Liberation!
Currently we are:
Continuing to fix up the house (working on the deck, roof, and septic system, etc)
Supporting the initiation of the Possibility Alliance's mutual aid group, dedicated to organizing the local community do labor and move resources to BIPOC-led projects upon request.
Initiating a community support network to address housing insecurity
Supporting the initial organizaiton of the Culture-of-Craft community craft space
Setting up the gift economy Community Bike Shop
Creating signage and other systems for easier communal use of trails and commons spaces.
Hosting the groups who come to use the space.
Organizing a gift economy intensive training to help form a national team of Internal Family Systems practitioners who are applying the framework for the practical work of collective liberation.
Much more... come on by and get involved
You are welcome to join our "morning circle" that takes place every weekday at 9am. It includes a short meditation, vision connection, and wellbeing check in, and then setting the tasks for our day's labor for collective liberation
